![]() ![]() Thank heavens for Google maps! Coming back around midday our room was still not ready, which gave us the opportunity to drink Aperol Spritz - the drink of Venice on the Hotels balcony while watching the water traffic on the Grand Canal by. So we dropped our bags off and headed off to explore and get lost in Venice for the first and not the last time over the next 4 days we were there. We got to the hotel very early - 9ish and our room wasn't ready, only to be expected. We felt quite the film stars! Our welcome was incredible. If you can afford the €130 25 minutes journey, and are new to the city like us, it's amazing introduction. Venice City Center Venice |0.66km from city center We arrived via Water taxi directly from the airport to the Canel Grande's private jetty and drinks balcony. ![]() Sky bar gives excellent views over Venice and bar staff very friendly. Never ate in the hotel, so cannot comment. Also a lot of mould in shower Not that I watch a lot of Tv, but only 3 English channels, 2 news programs Take plenty of bug spray, as lots of bugs in the hotel and they bite a lot Good shuttle into St Marks, every 30mins, only takes 39 pax at a time, so beware at busy times. The suit was large and tidy, but overall it looked dated & tiered Plenty storage Bathroom was large with Bath & shower, problems with them draining. After checking in at 3pm we went to the room, 3rd floor, take something to leave a trail as there are many corridors to navigate to get to the room. Got access to the executive lounge and to say I was disappointed is an understatement, looks like a corridor off the main lounge, as there was no solid divider the noise was too much, have used Hilton brand around the world and as a past Diamond member, was left disappointed with this one. Unable to check in till 3pm which was unfortunate. Arrived at 11am as we just came off a cruise. Venice City Center Venice |1.45km from city center Had a 2 night stay booked in the Hilton Stucky, in a Club room, Venice. in fact arriving to a welcome from Andrea and Michael (reception manager provides a careful and considerate service.no matter the water level. great room service, housekeeping, service and quality as well as value One final word of praise.Andrea, who greets and helps arriving guests climb off the various boats.not always simple especially with older ( and disabled ) guests. ![]() ![]() One of us was at Belmond Iguazo Falls, Brazil earlier this month and that was equally exceptional. Cipriani delivers the most wonderful Venetian experience as do so many of the incredible Belmond hotels around the world at other amazing locations. I'm writing this review while still resident and relaxing by bar, looked after by Franco and looking forward to what Cip's restaurant serve up for dinner tonight. As for the pleasure of breakfasts.the setting is so lovely and the service perfect that it has to be unbeatable in whole of Venice. Service, rooms and suites, the extensive gardens, facilities.everything is better than ever. While it was starting to get a little tired this has been fully reversed. Of all the top of the hotels I would not now consider staying anywhere except the Cipriani. Returning guests will have no problem noticing the improvements. On arriving I found there was a new managing director, Mr Marco Novello, who used to head London's unbeatable Lanesborough Hotel. We received a marvellous welcome from Michael (who has been at the Cipriani since before the previous management). There is now a room next to reception where guests are welcomed. The choice of flowers outside balconies compliment the property better than ever as do the floral arrangements throughout the hotel especially opposite the boutiques. Modern twists are carefully blended in such as television rising from a period style cabinet. Rooms and suites however enjoy a special 'feel' which should not be mistaken as being outdated, rather they are classic, beautiful, elegant and exactly what is expected by returning guests. The new luxury bath towels make such a difference and the bedding is now top quality. Although there is a pillow menu, the standard feather pillows are the best one will find anywhere. Pure La Dolce Vita ! I have noticed so many improvements since our last visit. Relaxing by this pool takes some beating, not only in Italy but anywhere. The Very Best swimming pool to be found in Venice is of course at the Cipriani, where the Olympic sized pool comes with exceptional pool service. The JW also has the 2nd best pool in Venice. It's a particularly good JWM and could have been branded a Ritz Carlton. If you want something modern and new (with the latest electric sockets and switches), stay at the JW Marriot. The loveliest hotels are of course the older hotels including the Cipriani. Having stayed at a few of the top hotels in Venice over the years I'm able to make a fair comparison. ![]()
